The Odionlogbo House (Green Colour) of Good Shepherd Catholic Boys’ Secondary School, Oyede, Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State has lifted the trophy at the 8th Inter-House Sports Competition of the school with 300 points.

(Right – lefte) Odionlogbo House (Green Colour), School House (Blue Colour) and Afereha House (White House); 1st, 2nd and third respectively.

The School House (Blue Colour) came second with 154 points. Afereha House (White House) took third position with 142 points, just as Burke House (Yellow House) settled for fourth position with 136 points, while Agwere House (Red Colour) took  fifth position with 127 points.

In his address the Principal, Rev. Fr. Andrew Orogun said the school has improved greatly in the quality of sport festival.

He said: “I am greatly delighted to have you all present to celebrate this uncommon sport festival with us in this uncommon citadel of learning with uncommon dedicated  staff members, uncommon students and uncommonly committed parents in this uncommon community with an uncommon Odionlogbo and uncommon highly spirited people in an uncommon state with uncommon people. This is my second experience of inter-house sport as Principal of this school. from my candid observation, I would say this is indeed a festival that the school constantly looks up to, and we are greatly encouraged by your presence and active participation”.

“I recall last year I committed the PTA with the task to assist us in developing sports with construction of a Basket Ball and Volley Ball courts. They accepted and took up the challenge knowing that sports go beyond mere football considering these as international sports that should be in any school with the vision of bringing up students in an increasing globalised world. It suffices to say here, that through their effort our school now has the Basketball and the volleyball courts respectively. We remain grateful and request that you keep up the task of contributing to the meaningful development of our school knowing that it imparts upon the mental well being of our students,” the Principal said.

While adding that the school is a pride to the Catholic Diocese of Warri, the Principal noted that the school has excelled greatly in many ways and stands out among the best nationwide, disclosing that last October, the school came 3rd in the Seplat Pearls Quiz Competition while the  school  came 2nd in the Annual Chris Ikomi Memorial Essay Competition at the local government level in both the senior and junior category, and third position at the state level.

The Principal assured parents that the school has great plans of structural development in order to accommodate the growing number of students in the years ahead, stressing that he sees a school that will produce the best athletes, footballers and the best of everything.
