As part of efforts by the new General Manager of the Bayelsa State Broadcasting Corporation (Glory FM), Lawson E. Hayford JP, to transform the station for better services, the corporation has held a thanksgiving programme to appreciate God for being faithful to them.

The one day programme which was held at the Glory FM premises last Friday with ‘let’s celebrate his presence’ as the theme; was also used to appreciate their hardworking staff in various departments.

Delivering his speech at the occasions, the General Manager of the station, Mr. Lawson E. Hayford, stated that they are working towards going on air 24 hours of the day.

Mr. Hayford noted that the Executive Governor of the state, Rt. Hon. Henry Seriake Dickson, has been of help to the station. He also said that the State Government is about to procure news transmitters for the station.

“We recognize the place of God in this station, we have been conducting Morning Devotions everyday. When we came on board in October 2013, we were faced with so many challenges and we felt there’s no way we could go forward except we call God into our situation and God has been faithful.” he said.

The General Manger added that the Bayelsa State Broadcasting Corporation is now a station to beat as far as the Niger Delta is concerned.

Noting some of their constraints which include funding, he stated that they have also instituted a Monthly Staff award to appreciate those who have contributed to the growth of the station and also encourage others to put in their best: stressing that the selection process for the best staff award was fair.

Delivery his message; Apostle Zilly Aggrey, charged the corporation to impact positive cultures on the people. He also said that they should imbibe the culture of honesty that ‘Izon’ means truth and charged all Bayelsans to love their land; adding that awards should be giving to people who have shown genuine love to the state.

The 2013 best presenter award was given to Preye Julius, best management staff award went to Mrs. John Ogu, best News & Current Affairs staff was given to Mrs. Miebi Moro Etete while the overall best staff award went to Mrs. Doris Francis.
