Ogor Donates 150-Bed Sitter Dormitory to Orphanage Home

By Ovedhe Jerry

House of Representative Minority Leader and Member Representing Isoko Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Leo Ogor, on Boxing Day donated a 150 bed sitter dormitory built by him and his family to the Human Welfare for Empowerment and Development Initiative (HWEDI), Irri in Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State.

The Multi Million Naira building furnished with double beds and various facilities was commissioned by the immediate past Secretary to the Delta State Government, Comrade Ovuozourie Macaulay, who lauded the philanthropic gestures exhibited by the Federal Lawmaker.

Speaking during the Commissioning, Com Macaulay said he had the intention of building the same dormitory but could not due to pressures of work but expressed joy that Hon. Leo Ogor has accomplished it for the Orphans.

“I have been involving myself in giving alms to the orphans for many years but the dream to build an orphanage dormitory as this one has not been met due to series of events while in government. But today, with the help of my friend and brother it has come to pass” he said.

Earlier the patron of Human Welfare for Empowerment and Development Initiative (HWEDI) Hon Leo Ogor said individuals should demonstrate a special concern for this group of persons because they are helpless and therefore very vulnerable. He therefore vowed that as long as God continue to protect and keep him alive, his assistance to the development of the place will continue. “Life is tough for children with parents, so the plight of those without parents can only be imagined.

” You don’t have to be rich before you give to the less previllage.  Giving sacrificial to these little ones is  one of my priority in life.  This is the only  way we can reduce the plight of these little ones without parents, ’’ he said.

He said the dormitory would assist the orphans to restore the hope they lost, speaking to journalists shortly after the commissioning of the project, Ogor said that the society should assist them because their view about the society was always negative due to the trauma they went through. While narrating what motivated him to carry out such benevolent works, he said he has always placed himself on the receiving end but having seen himself in the place God has placed him in the society today through the mandate given to him by Isoko federal constituents, he is left with no other option but to replicate such gesture to the society.

Other dignitaries who  accompanied Hon Leo to the commissioning are,  Engr Benson Adaino,  CO Adaino  Engineering,  Sir MOC  Eto, Barr Dr Paul Owhe,  Hon Emmanuel Egbabor,  Executive  Chairman  Isoko North  Local Government Area,  and a host of other dignitaries.
