In her acceptance speech, Lion Taiga appreciated the Charter President, Lion Dcn Shola Mese of Warri Sapphire Lions Club, the entire members of the club, the District Governor and others for finding her worthy to serve as the 5th President of the club.

She said the provision of home for the less privilege in the society, provision of portable water for schools and communities, provision of modern public toilets facilities amongst other projects to better the lives of the ordinary citizens, as some of the humanitarian projects that she intend to carry out.

“It is on record that the supposed serving President left the club without prior notice and unceremoniously which led to a special election as stipulated in the Lion Club International Constitution and bye laws and, I was unanimously nominated and elected as the 5th President of our pace setting club,” Lion Taiga said.

She thanked the monarch of Olomu Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Dr Richard L. Ogbon Ogoni-Oghoro 1, JP, Royal Canon, the Chairman of the occasion, Olorogun John Oguma among others for finding time to attend the ceremony.

The monarch of Olomu Kingdom, His Majesty Dr Richard Ogbon Ogoni-Oghoro 1, JP, Royal Canon, prayed for Lion Taiga, appealing to her to put the affairs of the less privilege first in her activities.

The monarch also requested that Lions Club should not be restricted to the Urban areas but should also be set up in rural areas so that people there can feel the impact of the club.

A media consultant and guest speaker at the occasion, Comrade Emaka Nwokocha, who delivered a paper with the theme “Relevance of Humanitarian Services to Our Society,” said the humanitarian crisis in North-eastern Nigeria has put Nigeria on the spotlight of international community and earned her the appellation of a country in dire need of humanitarian aid.

“No doubt, the high demand of humanitarian service in Nigerian has been a recurring decimal in recent times. No thanks to Boko Haram insurgency,” Nwokocha said.
