Mr. Larry Otu

Mr. Larry Otu

Please introduce yourself to us

My name is Larry Otu, Delta State Governorship aspirant hopeful come 2015

How will you react to the sudden death of Chief Ewherido?

(Exhales) I received the news of his death with a great shock. This is a major loss to the Urhobo nation, Delta State and Nigerians and its more terrible for his family.

Who do we now send to the national assembly to replace him?

It is too early to begin to talk about who is going to replace him now because we are still mourning him. As a people, we are still mourning the loss of a hero and a great man. One of the laws of power is to avoid stepping into a great man’s shoe. Senator Ewherido was a great man and stepping into his shoes might be too large for anybody at this time.

There are speculations that Ogboru is going to step into his position, how would you react to that?

Like I said, it is too early to talk about politics right now. We just lost a great man. Chief Ogboru is a great man and a wonderful person who strongly believes in DPP, but I doubt if he is going to talk anything about that right now.

What is your message to the people of Delta Central as we mourn Ewherido?

I pray to God to give us the people the grace to bear this loss. We ask the people of Delta Central to remain calm as we lay a great leader to rest.
You people (Journalists) will be part of our team as we go and pay the family a condolence visit.

What’s your message to Senator Ewherido’s family?

It is not going to be easy to tell them not to cry because they have lost a great man, a father, a husband and a child. They’ve lost a bright light in family. But I pray that the good Lord grants them the grace and fortitude to bear the loss.
