Maigari Calls for unity in NFF

THE outgoing President of the Nigeria Football federation, Alhaji Aminu Maigari has called on the football body in the country to embrace peace and forget there differences.
Maigari made this call today at the NFF elective Congress held at the prestigious Golden Tulip Hotel Effurun Delta State.
Maigari who said his board has been one of the most vibrant board in the history of football in the country noted that football has been a unifying factor in the country.
Maigari added that during his administration NFF has achieved a lot, adding that despite so many challenges confronting the board, they were able to rise to challenge by ensuring that the board was in order.
He added that during his tenure Nigeria was able to win the African Cup of Nation after 19 years without a cup.
Maigari commended the federal government for its support throughout his tenure, noting that without the support of the government they would not have succeeded.
The outgoing President noted that Nigeria National team would continue to do the nation proud both in national and international competitions.
He said that the elective Congress was an important decision taken by the board to move the nation’s football to an enviable height.
He also urged the football house to conduct themselves in a manner that will bring honor to the football house.
In his goodwillmessage, the Director General National Sports Commission, Mr. Gbenga Elegbeleye commended the outgoing President for handling the board well, noting that he has made Nigerians proud in the discharge of his duties.
He noted that stakeholders of the football body in Nigeria have contributed meaningfully to the uplifting of football in the country.
Also speaking, President of the Nigeria Olympic Committee, Engr. Sani Ndanusa assured the incoming board they will have the total support of the committee.
Engr. Ndanusa who was represented by Chief Solomon Obama, Chairman Athletics Federation of Nigeria, prayed that the current crisis experienced by the house should be the last, praying that there would not be any division in the new board of the NFF.
