Shortly after the handover ceremony, COMPOL Ezike disclosed to newsmen that his job was nomadic because of the movement from place to place that is involved.

“Our job is nomadic. So what has just happened is a part of a process of knowing Nigeria and re-engineering Nigeria. We shall rediscover Edo state, interact with our officers, all known state actors, the people of Edo State, small, big, male, female and then move the state forward. The whole essence is to have a more secure, a more peaceful Edo State for better prosperity”, he said.

The Police Boss however, thanked residents for the cooperation and support given to his predecessor Mr. Samuel Adegbuyi, while soliciting for more collaboration from members of the public in the fight against crime and criminality.

Until his recent posting, he was CP Rivers State where he assumed duty last June.

Before he became COMPOL Rivers, Chris Ezike led the IG’s Special Anti-Crime Task Force to fight cultism in Edo and kidnapping in Kogi States.

It will be recalled that no fewer than 96 suspected cultists including leaders of cult groups were arrested, paraded and charged to court in Edo following covert operation of the Chris Ezike-led IG’s Task Force.

Also, in Kogi state, a politician along with 44 others suspected to have connected to Kidnapping, armed robbery and other crimes were apprehended by the special squad.

The 35th COMPOL to serve in Edo State has also headed the IG’s Monitoring Unit of the Police Counter terrorism Investigation Unit.
