Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area, Hon Dr Michael Tidi on Thursday congratulated Team Delta for emerging overall winner of the Edo 2020 National Sports Festival competition which took place in Benin City, Edo state.

In a press statement by his Special Assistant on Media, Mr Francis Sadhere, Dr Tidi said the victory of Team Delta at the just concluded National Sports Festival was an indication of the passion the Delta State Governor, Senator (Dr) Ifeanyi Okowa, has for sports.

Team Delta won the Edo 2020 National Sports Festival with a total of 384 Medals which include 158 Gold Medals, while the host state, Edo came second with 129 gold medals and a total of 341 medals.

Tidi commended Governor Okowa for the support he gave the sport men and women who represented the state in the National Sports Festival at Edo.

The Warri South council boss said, “Team Delta has made us all proud again. I want to congratulate Team Delta for emerging victorious at the just concluded National Sports Festival which took place in Benin City, Edo State.

“This victory would not have been possible if not for the overwhelming support of our sport loving Governor, Senator (Dr) Ifeanyi Okowa, and I pray that we continue to sustain this winning attitude.

“This is the third consecutive time that Team Delta is bringing the National Sports Festival trophy to the state and this time around we are keeping the trophy permanently. This fit has shown the whole world that Delta is a sport living State. Congratulations once again Team Delta.”
