A governorship hopeful on the platform of People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu has assured his followers and Edo People that moribund sector of the economy would be revamped should he becomes the governor of the state.

Pst Ize-Iyamu gave the assurance at an interactive session organized by house-to-house initiative held in Benin City yesterday.

Ize-Iyamu acknowledge that the Esan people have not gotten the fare share of good governance for the past seven years since the present administration began but have suffered neglect and abandonment.

He noted that the only academic institution in Edo central, Ambrose Ali University has be abandoned and meant to suffer adding that his government will look into the challenges militating against it with the view of making it the top ten universities in Nigeria.

“The only university built in Ekpoma by Ambrose Ali has been meant to suffer and die. I assure you that I will not allow the university to die. I will revive the institution”, he said.

He said that the people’s Democratic Party government would make the Ewu flower mill and other moribund sectors of the economy work again to create jobs for the Nigerian populace.

Ize-Iyamu further explained that the state is endowed  with a lot of manpower and mineral resources to sustain itself and should not depend on the federal government before it could meet the needs of its citizens but what the people need is the government that can be proactive and think outside the box.

“You know that if there is one burning issue today, is the state of our economy. Many states including Edo state, they are having problem with workers salaries and pensioners, issue of employment, the poverty level is extremely high, food stuff are increasing, there is a lot of depression and violence in the land.

So, this is something that we must continue to discuss and proffer solutions. In my own opinion, Edo state is very well endowed by God.

Edo state has all the potentials but what is required is for a government that thinks outside the box not just relying on allocation from Abuja. If we are able to harness our resources, human and natural resources, I believe that this state can go far beyond where we are right now”, he said.

He noted that his government will ensure proper financial discipline and block of forms of leakages in the system.

He however thanked the organizers of the event and sued for its sustenance.
