A political group under the aegis of Niger Delta Forum for Good Governance has lauded President Jonathan’s efforts in kicking out the disease from the country.
Chairman of the group, Col. Etoromi Satchie (rtd), in an interview with our correspondents after their meeting held in Warri, praised President Jonathan for the way and manner he handled the Ebola Virus calling on Nigerians who are always criticizing the president to sheath their sword and work with him for the benefit of the country.
According to the group, President Jonathan has done the country proud and it was pleasing that other countries in the world have been praising the President for the way he handled the Ebola Virus Disease.
Col. Etoromi said; “I will say kudos to the president because he is the president of Nigeria and the praise should go to him. It is pleasing that other countries are coming to learn from us the strategies we used in curtailing the spread of the virus. It is a pity that some Nigerians who are detractors and who never see anything good in themselves, have come out to say that Nigeria has achieved nothing. It is a big shame. We just hope that before 2015 these people will realize their mistakes and vote for President Jonathan.
“The strategy the Federal Government and Nigerians used in tackling the virus was very commendable. The specialists brought in by the Federal government to tackle the epidemic were very well organized looking at the way they distributed materials for checking the spread of the Disease to Nigerians.
“I will also say that kudos should go to the various medical experts, government agencies and Nigerians for the part they all played in ensuring that virus was curtailed. The directive given by the Federal Government to shut down school nationwide also contributed a lot in managing the spread of the disease,” he said.
Col. Etoromi also commended the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for their decision to adopt President Jonathan as a consensus candidate in the 2015 general elections noting that President Jonathan has done a lot in transforming the country.
He said that at their National Stakeholders meeting that took place in Warri on the 5th of October, after reviewing the state of the nation, unanimously praised the executive working committee of PDP for adopting Jonathan to run for the second term.
He added; “We recalled that less than three years ago, the railway system, shipping lines, the Nigerian Airways and a lot of our infrastructures became dead as a result of bad leadership in the past. We noticed that all over the country the transformation agenda of President Jonathan is bring new life to the people and improving the standard of living of the common man, making the country an organized and better society. He has been able to achieve all these despite all the atrocities being caused by Boko Haram and their sponsors who appear to be responsible for the destruction of the country.
“They were in power in previous administration and because they are ashamed of what they have done before, the want to destroy this administration and making it uncomfortable to govern. We hope that they will see reasons and step down from their high horse and allow peace to reign.”
They therefore, urged President Jonathan to declare his intentions for 2015 assuring him of their support when come 2015.
We are also appealing to President Jonathan to declare his intention to run for 2015. We are joining our voices to majority of Nigerians who are appealing to him to run for a second term. We are going to give him all he support that he wants because we believe very strongly in the performance of his administration and we believe that he will come out victorious.
