The Delta State House of Assembly (DTHA), has ordered the Vice Chancellor of Delta State University Abraka, Prof. Victor F. Peretomode to release the final year result of one Mr. Solomon Ejiro Tedjere immediately and to also graduate him in order for him to proceed with his National Youth Service Corp.

The student had petitioned the House through the lawmaker representing Ethiope East Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. (Chief) Evance Ivwurie who presented the matter before the House on 15th March, 2017.

Hon. Ivwurie had petition the House through Oviemuno Obobolo Esq.  on the 15th March, 2017 over the non release of his constituent, Mr. Solomon Tedjere degree result by DELSU, the Delta State House of Assembly Public Petitions Committee today presented the report titled: “The alleged victimization and unjustifiable withholding of the final result belonging to Mr. Solomon Ejiro Tedjere by the Delta State University, Abraka five (5) years after graduation to the Delta State House of Assembly (DTHA), directing the Vice Chancellor of Delta State University Abraka to release the final year result of Mr. Solomon Ejiro Tedjere immediately, and to graduate him in order for him to proceed with his National Youth Service Corp.”

The Petitioner, Mr. Oviemuno Obobolo Esq. who wrote on behalf of Mr. Solomon Ejiro Tedjere, a student of Agricultural Science in the Department of Vocational Education, Delta State University, Abraka, appealing to Delta State House of Assembly (DTHA) to investigate the alleged victimization by the University and unjustly withholding his final result five years after graduation on account of an unsubstantiated claim.

Hon. Ivwurie had after making frantic effort to get the University to see reasons engaged the services of the law firm of Oviemuno Obobolo Esq to petition the DTHA.

Speaking at the Hallowed Chamber, the Chairman of the Public Petitions Committee Hon. (Alaowei) Tonye Timi Ph.D, who is the honourable member representing Patani State Constituency in DTHA said in carrying out the investigation of this petition to the House by Hon. Evance Ivwurie, the Committee invited both parties to wit: The University ably represented by the Vice Chancellor Professor Victor Peretomode, the University Legal Officer B. A. Oyawiri Esq and the Petitioner with his Lawyer, Oviemuno Obobolo Esq . who appeared before it severally.

The Committee said the report/recommendation undergone proper investigation and came up with this recommendation, saying it is pertinent to note that the report has taken a strong position against the action of singling one Mr. Solomon Ejiro Tedjere out for cruel or unjust treatment after graduating five years ago.

According to the Chairman Public Petitions Committee, the University could not substantially prove to the Committee that the Petitioner was found unworthy in character or learning and does not qualify to be awarded the University degree and therefore recommended that the House should direct the Vice Chancellor of Delta State University Abraka to immediately release the final year result of Mr. Solomon Ejiro Tedjere, and to awarded also graduate him accordingly in order to enable him proceed with his National Youth Service Corp.

The Public Petitions Committee headed by Hon. (Alaowei) Tonye Timi recommended that the House should also directs the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Victor F. Peretomode to show evidence of compliance to this directive within two weeks of the passage of this resolution.
