Dr Michael Tidi

The Chairman of Warri South Local Government Council, Dr. Michael Tidi, has advised members of Peoples’ Democratic Party to remain committed to the party, and not be deceived by fake promises of the opposition All Progressive Congress, APC.

Addressing reporters on Friday in Warri, apparently in response to persons that defected to the APC, Tidi said there would be no preferential treatment for those defecting to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and wondered why the defectors think the original members of the APC would properly integrate them in their new found party.

While he described such promise as ‘a mirage’, he noted that while he would have wished for the defected members to remain with their original family which is the PDP, it suffices to nevertheless state that the PDP does not need politicians of convenience but members with a shared ideology.

The Council Chairman, however, said the doors of the PDP were open to the defectors to reconsider their actions and return back to the party.

He noted that despite the defection suffered by the ruling party in recent time, the PDP still retained its majority status in Warri South LGA and Delta State in particular. We are not bothered; we have an enduring structure to deliver for the election. Remember we have never lost the state since the advent of this democracy and come February 25 and March 11, 2023, the PDP would coast home to victory, as everything points to our victory, he said.
