Dode to Speak on Democracy Under Pressure @ 2026 Delta Online Publishers 6Th Lecture Series

Professor Robert Oghenedoro Dode, political scientist of note, scholar and public policy expert is the Guest Lecturer to deliver the keynote lecture at the 2026 Annual Conference and 6th Lecture Series of the Delta Online Publishers Forum (DOPF).
This was disclosed in a statement signed by Mr. Enebeli Emmanuel, chairman, Delta Online Publishers Forum (DOPF) made available to Reformeronline in Asaba, he said that Prof. Dode will speak on the theme, “Democracy Under Pressure: Electoral Integrity, Security Challenges and Media Accountability in Nigeria” at the ceremony scheduled for Wednesday, October 21, 2026 in Asaba.
Mr. Enebeli said that Prof. Dode,
a Professor of Political Science at Dennis Osadebay University, Asaba, where he has also served as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics) will bring his extensive wealth of academic experience and expertise in governance, electoral politics, public administration, security and strategic affairs to bear on some of the most pressing challenges confronting Nigeria’s democratic development.
According to Mr. Enebeli, “his keynote lecture is expected to provide a rigorous examination of the state of Nigeria’s democratic institutions, the imperative of credible and transparent electoral processes, emerging security concerns and the critical responsibility of the media in promoting accountability, transparency and good governance.
“His participation is also expected to elevate the intellectual dimension of the DOPF conference, which has become an important platform for public discourse in Delta State and Nigeria as a whole.
“Professor Dode is a Professor of Political Science. A native of Otorho-Idjerhe (Jesse) in Ethiope West Local Government Area of Delta State, he obtained his B.Sc. in Political Science and Public Administration from the University of Uyo, graduating as the Best Student in his discipline.
” He subsequently earned an M.Sc. in Public Administration from the same university and a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Port Harcourt.
“With more than two decades of academic and administrative experience, Prof. Dode has distinguished himself in teaching, research, mentorship and institutional leadership.
“He has served as Head of Department, Dean of Faculty, Director of the School of Lifelong Education and Chairman of several strategic university committees. His academic interests and teaching experience cover Political Science, Public Administration, Governance, Public Policy, Development Studies, International Relations, Electoral Politics and Strategic Studies.
“Beyond the university environment, Prof. Dode has made significant contributions to national academic and policy development through his engagements with the National Universities Commission as a Resource Person, Accreditation Team Member and Academic Assessor.
“He has also served the National Defence College, Abuja, as a Sabbatical Fellow, Guest Lecturer, Research Supervisor and Academic Resource Person, contributing to discourse on governance, security and strategic affairs.
“He has equally served as External Examiner and Assessor to several universities across Nigeria and has received numerous honours for his contributions to scholarship and educational advancement.”
The chairman of the Forum said that the DOPF Annual Conference and Lecture Series attracts government officials, policymakers, legislators, academics, media professionals, civil society organisations, security experts, political leaders and other stakeholders for informed engagement on issues of national importance.
He further disclosed that Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, Governor of Delta State is expected to grace the 2026 edition as Special Guest of Honour, alongside other eminent personalities.
