Delta Police gun down one armed robber, recovers 2 riffle, other items

The police in B’Division Command, Warri, has gunned down one armed robber, just as two other gang members escaped in a gun duel that lasted for several minutes along Giwamu Junction, Warri, Delta State.
According to the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, CSP Garaje Gado who spoke to our correspondent, the police were able to chase the armed robbers after a member of the public, (name withheld) alerted the police that he had just been robbed by the deadly gang.
He said the patrol team sighted the armed robbery gang minutes after the complain and gave them a hot chase, adding that immediately the armed robbers noticed them they opened fire on the police and the police returned fire for fire.
The DPO said that one of the armed robbers was gunned down in the ensuring fire exchange and died on the spot while the other two escaped with bullet wounds.
According to the DPO; “The patrol team leader, (name withheld) reported that his men were on patrol when a victim of the robbery incident alerted them that he has just been robbed at 156 Jakpa Road around 21:37pm. Minutes after they got the report, the said gang zoomed passed them and the man identified them and they started pursuing them. When they saw that the police was after them, they fired at the police. The police replied them fire for fire and one of them was gunned down while the other two escaped.”
CSP Gado said the police had been looking for the taxi, a Vento Jetta with registration number FKJ154AR, which the armed robbers had been using in terrorizing the area for some time now, adding that investigation was still ongoing to arrest the other fleeing members of the gang.
Also recovered from the armed group were one English made riffle, one cut to size riffle, two expended cartridges, six sim cards, one mini-laptop, two internet modems and a wallet.
