The Delta state police command has arrested six suspected kidnappers and four suspected robbers, while one victim kidnapped by gunmen was also rescued.

TMPSNAPSHOT1471887101888The suspected kidnappers and robbers, according to a statement by the state’s Police Public Relation Officer (PPRO), SP Clestina Kalu, were arrested through the efforts of combined operation between the police and vigilante groups.

She said, “On 14/8/2016 one Helen Otah ‘f’ of Ogono Orogun while returning from church in company of her husband in their Hyundai Jeep was kidnapped at the gate of her house by unknown hoodlums.

“The victim was rescued, while the Hyundai Jeep was recovered on the same date through the combined efforts of policemen and Delta vigilante group.

“However, on 16/8/2016 at about 0600hrs while acting on a tip off surveillance team from ‘A’ Division Ughelli in collaboration with Delta vigilante group stormed Ekerawhe village in Agbarho area and arrested one Ogheneruma Umukoro ‘m’, Okoro Evidence ‘m’, Blessing Akaporere ‘m, Akaughrobo Ovie ‘m’ and Mokpeyere Johnson ‘m’ in connection with the crime.”

The delta state police image maker added that the suspects have confessed to the crime and were assisting Police in their investigation.

Continuing, she added, “On 8/8/2016 one Daniel Uboh ‘m’, a Permanent Secretary, was kidnapped from his farm along old Lagos road Agbor by unknown hoodlums. The victim was released by his captors on 12/8/2016 after the payment of undisclosed ransom.”

She However, noted that while acting on available intelligence, operatives of Special Anti-Kidnapping Squad Asaba in combined operation with detectives attached to Agbor Division arrested one Mr. Umar Ibrahim who allegedly took part in the crime.

In a similar development the Delta State PPRO said that “On 15/8/2016 at about 1800hrs, the zonal head of Delta State Institute of Continuing Education, Agbor reported at the Police station Agbor that earlier on the same date, about twelve unknown boys invaded the school, beat up some Corps members/students and made away with their handsets and other valuables.”

She added that sequel to the report, detectives commenced investigation and arrested one Ojebor Ifeanyi ‘m’, Gbenoba Benjamin ‘m’, Omokaro Emma ‘m’, Dike Nwose Jeffrey ‘m’ and Gbenoba Raymond ‘m’ in connection with the crime.

She stated that investigation is still on to arrest the rest of the suspects.
