Members of the Board of Trustees (BOT) of communities Development Committees have rooted for the dissolution of the current board of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

In a communiqué at the end of its meeting held at Little Paradise Hotel, Effurun, Headquarters of Uvwie Local Government area of Delta State, the BOT recommended the dissolution of the current NDDC Board in view of the change of government.

The communiqué signed by the substantive Chairman of the BOT, Chief Maikpobi Okareme Chief J. Omo Udoyo, Secretary, BOT, Sir (Chief) Alphonsus Odili ( Delta State), Engr. Epkenyong Richard (Cross Rivers), High Chief Godwin U. Nwaorgu (Abia State), Mr. Victor Akpanta (Akwa Ibom), Hon. (Mrs.) Chimara Idowu (Rivers State), High Chief Olu Aiyemo (Delta State), Dr. Ikem C. Tolar (Delta State) and Mr. Celestine Jacob (IMO State), said that the NDDC has deliberately deviated from its mandate by citing projects outside the oil bearing communities.

The BOT therefore, called on President Mohammadu Buhari to activate the monitoring committee section of the NDDC Act to empower it to probe the commission and suspend all projects outside the oil producing communities until such a time projects in oil producing areas were completed.

The BOT said in constituting the new board President Buhari should ensure that only persons nominated from the host communities are appointed into NDDC Board.

Prince Maikpobi Okereme was appointed substantive Chairman of the BOT.
