DESOPADEC Contractors Seeks Audience With Oborevwori To Forge Formidable Front

Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC) Indigenous Contractors Forum has called on Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, Governor of Delta State to magnanimously grant then an audience to enable them work in tandem with his M-O-R-E Agenda Programme.
This call was made by Engr. Ogie Samson, chairman, DESOPADEC Indigenous Contractors Forum in a statement issued at the end of the meeting of the Forum’s executive, he
said that it was displeasing that after more than one year in office, the Governor was yet to meet with them.
Accordng to Engr. Ogie, “I was short of words when a member of the Executive asked if the governor remember the existence of the Forum despite it’s contributions before, during and after the election that brought him into office”.
Engr. Ogie disclosed that that he has been personally financing the activities of the Forum, he stressed the need to revive DESOPADEC Indigenous Contractors to meet the demands of the day.
He recalled how he mobilized people and some members before and during the election and also attended the Thanksgiving service of Governor Oborevwori following his victory in the last gubernatorial election.
Engr. Ogie noted that there is urgent need for Governor Oborevwori to initiate a meeting with the executive of DESOPADEC Indigenous Contractors Forum to discuss on issues, particularly the contributions of members that will make a success of his MORE AGENDA.
He said that the germane issues to be discussed include but not limited to prompt payment for contracts executed, contract variations, hike in prices of materials for execution of contracts stressing that the Forum does not want the challenges become a threat to the execution of the Governor’s MORE AGENDA.
Engr. Ogie further disclosed that the Executive of the Forum has been placating members over challenges facing them because of the peaceful dispositions of their leaders.
He added, “with our understanding of peaceful environment for development, we have been patiently sacrificing our time, energy and resources to ensure peace between us, members of the Forum and the government with the hope that the Governor will call for a family discussion.
“It is now over a year and the governor is yet to respond. This statement is a reminder for the Governor to act to enable us contribute our own quota towards successful implementation of the M-O-R-E Agenda and understanding that our governor will see the reason to have harmonious discussion with us in the Forum because this is not the time to create chaos”, Ogie added.
