The Assistant Commissioner of Police and Commander, Ughelli Area Police Command, ACP Usman Ndanbabo, who was attacked by gunmen in Ughelli, Delta State, on Sunday night, has reportedly died of gun shots injuries sustained during the attack.

Ndanbabo, who hails from Niger State, gave up the ghost in the early hours of Tuesday.

The victim who was rushed to a Private Hospital in Warri and  reported to undergone series of surgeries and he was able to regained consciousness.

But the  Nigeria Police Community was in the early hours of Tuesday thrown into  mourning  when the news his   death  broke out.

Security sources told our correspondent that the deceased was shot at a close range on his stomach and back near his spinal cord by the hoodlums, and had managed to speak with the State  Police Commissioner, CP Zanna Ibrahim, when he visited him on Monday evening in his hospital bed.

At dependable source at the hospital where Ndanbabo was receiving treatment also confirmed the incident to our correspondent.
It was gathered that the remains of the late Area Commander has been moved to Minna, his home town in Niger State, for burial in accordance with Islamic rites.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Andrew Aniamaka, confirmed the incident when contacted, disclosing that he died on Tuesday morning.

Aniamaka added that the command was in deep mourning as he expressed rude shock over the demise of the senior police officer.
