Hon Solomon Ahwinahwi in a warm handshake with the monarch of Udu Kingdom during a visit to the king to flag of Ahwinahwi campaign today in Udu

Member representing Ughelli North/South and Udu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon Solomon Ahwinahwi on Friday flagged off his campaign with a promise to deliver more dividends of democracy to his constituent if elected again.

Ahwinahwi who spoke at the palace of the monarch of Udu Kingdom, His Majesty Owhoro 1 in Aladja, Udu local government area of the state, told the people that he is more qualified than the other candidates vying for the position.

Ahwinahwi said his reelection will be to the advantage of the Urhobo nation as it will enable him become a high ranking member of the House which will allow him do more for his people.

“The way the House works is such a way that members who have spent so many years in the House are accorded respect and are allowed to sit in the front row. They are members of committees and they are allowed to speak more in the House.

“So I am going to have an edge over any other person that will be elected to the House because that person will not be given the opportunity to attract more things to the constituent,” Ahwinahwi said.

He explained that the reason why he is contesting the seat under the platform of SDP was because of the respect he has for Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, who according to him, is the leader of PDP.

While declaring his support for Governor Okowa, Ahwinahwi urged the people to vote for him under the platform of the SDP so as to consolidate on his achievements so far.

“I know the tradition of the Urhobo people and I have been in the House since 2007 and I know what the challenges of my people are. This is why I have come to seek for your blessings,” Ahwinahwi told the Udu monarch.

“This is not a party issue. We are talking about the person that can bring the dividend of democracy to the people. If I go back today I will become a high ranking member in the House and this will allow me have extra privileges in the House.

“I want to appeal to you to go back to your various wards and tell them why I should go back.

“I have done a lot projects in healthcare, primary school, I have provided transformers to different communities, constructed a library in Aladja primary school among other things. I have done a lot of human capital development and I have empowerment a lot of youths in my constituent. I am equal to the task,” Ahwinahwi said.

He lamented that the Urhobo nation has not benefited much from the National Assembly because they do not have high ranking members in the House.

Responding, the monarch of Udu Kingdom who spoke on behalf of his Chiefs and his kingdom said he was happy for the visit and called for togetherness among the Urhobo nation.

The monarch prayed for Hon Ahwinahwi to succeed in his quest to go back to the House to continue to represent the people, appealing to the Urhobo nation to speak with one voice for progress.

Earlier, the President General of Udu Kingdom, High Chief Steve Sokoh, promised to work with Hon Ahwinahwi saying that they will spread the news to all the nook and cranny of the constituency.
