The Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has said that despite the adoption of Amaopusenbo [Dr] Dakuku Adolphus Peterside by the party, the party’s primaries will still hold as planned.

It says its attention has been drawn to various news reports especially by the electronic media concerning the adoption of a consensus governorship candidate by the party.

The party in a statement issued today and signed by the publicity secretary of the party, Senibo Chris Finebone said it has become important to properly situate what has happened to prevent avoidable misreporting by the media and not to play into the hands of detractors and mischief-makers.

“Indeed, the Rivers State APC Caucus, after a long period of diligent scrutiny and in their wisdom, yesterday endorsed Amaopusenbo [Dr] Dakuku Adolphus Peterside for the forthcoming governorship primaries of the party in Rivers State.

“It is important to re-emphasize that the primaries of the APC in Rivers State will hold as planned and all processes will be duly and diligently adhered to.

“The APC will continue to uphold and abide by the hallowed principle of internal party democracy and will not depart from it” the party promised.
