In a press release made available to our Correspondent in Warri, Mrs Esiemighan said that the present situation in Gbaramatu Kingdom was regrettable and implored both the Federal Government and Niger Delta Avengers to embrace dialogue for total peace to be restored.

Blaming unrest in the Niger Delta Region on long years of neglected, she noted that; “The people of the region are being oppressed; their environment has been polluted with nothing to show for the oil from the region and this is why the militants are up in arms against the Federal Government and the peace loving people of Gbaramatu Kingdom have remained at the receiving end.”

She added; “Just when the people are trying to come out of the invasion of Gbaramatu Kingdom by the Federal troops in 2009, the Kingdom has been thrown into another crisis, the present action engendered by the Federal Government will rather lead to another great unrest, subjecting women and children to unfair conditions”.

” As a noble woman in Gbaramatu Kingdom, I feel the pains and cries of my fellow women and this is why I am advocating for peace. Only peace can bring the needed progress and development,” she said.

According to the Activist; ” This present unrest  has grounded economic activities in our dear Kingdom with loss of lives. But military action is not the solution as it will not do any good or bring sustainable peace. Dialogue is the key and it should be adopted. The Gbaramatu people are typical Ijaw people; they are loving and loveable people. Government should do the needful for the people. President Muhammadu Buhari should give us Social Security, Environmental Security and Economic Prosperity. ”

“Military action against the oppressed people is unacceptable and do not represent a true positive change and developmental process. The Federal Government should alleviate the plight of the Niger Delta people. Stakeholders should work together for the desired peace and development. But while we delay, the adversary take advantage of our disunity and disagreement to exploit us the more. Niger Delta women and children deserve a better deal from this administration that has promised the people positive change. Peace is a decision. Only peace means positive change and sustainable progress”, Mrs Eseimieghan stated.
