The Delta State Chairman of the Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN), Gabriel Mamuzo, has advised Deltans to accept the results of the National Assembly elections without resorting to violence in order to promote peace and unity in the state and Nigeria in general.

President Goodluck Jonathan

Hon. Mamuzo made the call in Asaba during a media chat with some group of journalists after announcing the National Assembly results in some parts of the senatorial districts of the state.

According to him, the only way Deltans and Nigerians could leave in peace is by avoiding politics of bitterness and exercising un-biased mind towards their opponents.
“Embrace and congratulate your opponents if he or she emerges the winner of the election in the spirit of sportsmanship” he said.
Hon. Mamuzo stated that politicians should not incite the youths to violence but rather seek possible ways of empowering them economically for self- reliance.
He added that those in power should carry everybody along, especially Political Parties in the state to pilot the affairs of the government for good governance and administrative excellence.
He further stressed that there is need for the winners in every elective position to work towards promoting oneness, togetherness and unity of purpose.
