Sixty-seven youths from the twenty-four Kingdoms of Urhobo nation have graduated from a free Computer Competency Skills Acquisition training organized by the Petroleum Training Institute (PTI), Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta state.

The youths who are drawn from the 24 Urhobo kingdoms under the auspices of the Urhobo Progress Union (UPU), world-wide, commenced the training in May 2021.

Out of the 67 trainees, 10 came out with distinction, 20 got credits and 37 got merit.

Speaking at ceremony, Dr. Henry A. Adimula, Principal/Chief Executive, PTI noted that the training was part of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) of the Institute to its host communities.

According to him, with Information and Communication Technology (ICT) driving world industries, the beneficiaries of the training are like a “global currency that is generally accepted.”

Noting that some persons will make a career out of the training, Dr. Adimula charged the graduating students to make a positive impact in the society with the computer skills acquired and assured that the exercise will continue.

President-general of the Urhobo Progress Union (UPU) worldwide, Olorogun Moses Taiga who was represented by Chief(Captain) Anthony Onoharigho, first Vice President-General commended PTI for training the youths, he said that this development was the first of its kind.

President of the UPU youth-wing, Ovie Ebireri, congratulated the graduating students, he urged them to “translate the training into self-employment”

The ceremony saw the presentation of awards to the PTI Principal/Chief Executive, Dr. Henry Adimula and the Registrar of the Institute, Mr. Clement Siakpere by the UPU youth-wing for approving the free training for the youths.

The best three trainees, Abednego Bigila, Oboghene Ibini and Susan Ubom, received brand new laptops computers from the Ukoko Emoto Urhobo Re PTI, a group of Urhobo workers in the Institute.
