2nd Term First Year Anniversary: Tidi Is Advancing Grassroots Governance – WSDF Declares
Front-line Warri based Socio-political pressure group, Warri South Development Forum, WSDF, says Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State, Dr. Michael Tidi, is consolidating on the achievements of his first tenure and advancing grassroots governance, despite the financial challenges associated with local government administration in Nigeria.
President of WSDF, Comrade Oma Omayone, made the assertion in a statement released in Warri, Delta State, weekend, to mark the 2nd term first anniversary of the Dr. Michael Tidi led administration of Warri South Local Government Area, which falls on Tuesday March 8.
He outlined the ongoing construction of the official residence of Chairman of the Local Government Area at G.R.A, Warri, as verifiable evidence of how Dr. Michael Tidi is advancing grassroots governance.
Others according to WSDF are; the reconstruction/completion of Omadino Primary Health Care Centre, including the erection of bore-hole and tank stanchion with gee-pee tank, construction of perimeter fence around the Health Centre, electrification work at the Health Centre and Sand-filling of the premises as well as the procurement of Medical Equipment and installation at the Health Centre, within the last one year.
Comrade Omayone, added: “The expansive/daily environmental sanitation activities in Warri City Centre and the Riverine Areas of the Local Government, constant servicing of the mower machines, waste disposal truck and tipper, used for daily refuse management in the local government area, appointing and funding of the Warri South Council Environmental Sanitation/Beautification Taskforce, aimed at improving the aesthetics of Warri and attract investments.
“Introduction of electronic revenue collection system to the Council Area, servicing traditional institutions in the local government area, via robust engagement and quick response to issues of security concern, continuous engagement of opinion and community youth leaders on peace building strategies, mental reorientation and proper mentorship, committing huge resources in servicing security agencies in the local government area.
“Opening up sectional layout of Omadino Community with Bulldozer, Repair and Installation of faulty 300K VA transformer, supplying Warri South Local Government Council Main Secretariat and its environs public power supply.
“Re-construction work to stop water-logged behind the entrance staircase of the secretariat, rehabilitation of toilets, including procurement of new W.C, WEB, foreign door, fixing of floor and wall tiles, painting the toilet rom WH8room and fixing sliding windows on both rooms, laying of pipes to connect water to the toilet, painting, provision/fixing of sliding windows etc., to the office close to the toilet, painting of the Warri South Local Government Council Secretariats, including the entire perimeter fence.
“Painting of some road kerbs/roundabout to enhance the Beautification of Warri South Local Government Area, Warri, repair work on the Hilux Jeep attached to Head of Works Department, overhauling of NUGLE Bus, body work and other repairs.
“Procurement of Vehicle: Lx 570, Ra4 Jeep, 4Ng Toyota Sienna: One to “A” Division Police Station, one to ‘B’ Division Police Station, one to Area Command Police Station, one to the Legislative Arm 3Nos Toyota Corolla one to SLG, HPM and TLG,” according to the group, speak volume of an administration determined to domesticate governance at the grassroots, amid all odds.
