Barely few days to the Gubernatorial and State House of Assembly elections, President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday said the All Progressives Congress (APC) would wrestle power from the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State.

President Buhari, who was represented by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo during a Town Hall meeting with stakeholders, traditional rulers, and APC leaders at the Petroleum Training Institute (PTI) Conference Center, Effurun, Delta State, called on APC members to seize the opportunity of next Saturday’s election to vote out the PDP.

He said last election held on February 23 has shown the world that Delta was ready to change the leadership of the state, adding that with the resources coming out from Delta it was not supposed to be in the opposition.

While commending Deltans for contributing to the victory of the APC during the Presidential and National Assembly elections, Buhari said the victory will only be completed if APC produces the next governor of Delta.

He said, “We are very clear that Delta State has proved a very important point. They have proved that this state is ready for a change to the next level.

“Delta State was the focus of the Federal Government during the last election and Deltans have shown what they can do with the results that came from out after the election.

Osinbajo promised to looked into the issue of security which the people said was a very big challenge during the last election, adding that PDP had always used security to intimidate voters whenever there was elections.

He said there was ample reason to ensure that APC does not betray the trust of the people by creating division among themselves, just as he appealed for unity to move the party forward.

“Another reason why it is so important to ensure that Delta State becomes an APC state is the fact that all of the social investment programmes of the APC can only be implemented faithfully by an APC Governor. We believe that if we have an APC governor all these programmes will be implemented in Delta,” Osinbajo said.

The president also said that PDP created all the mess in the Delta Steel Company, Itakpa/ Warri Rail, the Warri Port and the East West Road, which the Buhari administration is handling.

On his part, the National Chairman of the APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomole while congratulating the Senator representing Delta Central, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege for his victory at the last election, commended Deltans for playing a part in President Buhari’s victory.

He said believed that PDP, which he described as a party in a political menopause, would be defeated in the next guber election.

Minster for State Petroleum, Dr Ibe Kachikwu, Delta State APC Guber candidate, Chief Great Ogboru, traditional rulers from across the state and other eminent personalities attended the town hall meeting.
