Oborevwori Mourns Bayelsa Deputy Governor, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo

Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of the Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, describing the loss as tragic and profoundly saddening.
In a condolence message issued through his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, Governor Oborevwori extended heartfelt sympathies to Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, the government and people of the state, as well as the family of the deceased.
The Delta State Governor described the late Deputy Governor, fondly known as “a man of many proverbs,” as a leader of uncommon wisdom, intellect and humility whose contributions to governance and public service made a lasting impact within the Niger Delta and Nigeria as a whole.
“I join the Governor, his family, Government and people of Bayelsa State, friends and allies in mourning Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo,” Oborevwori said. “He was a team player, a dependable partner in leadership and a fountain of wisdom. His passing is a painful reminder of the fragility of life.”
Governor Oborevwori also prayed for divine comfort and strength for Governor Douye Diri, the Ewhrudjakpo family, and the people of Bayelsa State, urging them to take solace in the enduring legacy of service and dedication left behind by the late Deputy Governor.
“On behalf of my family, the people and Government of Delta State, I pray that the Almighty God grants Governor Douye Diri, his family and all who mourn him the strength to bear this irreparable loss,” he added.
Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, who served as Deputy Governor under Governor Douye Diri, was widely respected across the Niger Delta for his eloquence, deep understanding of governance and his distinctive use of proverbs in public discourse. His death has drawn widespread tributes from political leaders and stakeholders across the region.
