By Francis Sadhere, Warri
Chief (Comrade) Sheriff Mulade, PhD, has expressed gratitude to delegates, supporters, and stakeholders of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) following his emergence as the party’s candidate for Warri Federal Constituency ahead of the forthcoming general election.
Mulade secured victory in the party’s primary election held on Friday in Delta State, earning the ticket to represent the NDC in the constituency.
In a statement personally signed and made available to journalists, the environmental rights activist and peace advocate described his victory as a reflection of the confidence and trust reposed in him by party members and the people of Warri Federal Constituency.
He said the mandate places a greater responsibility on him to pursue people-oriented leadership and effective representation, assuring constituents that their interests would remain his top priority if elected.
According to him, the victory is not a personal achievement but a collective triumph for all those who believe in good governance, inclusiveness, unity, and sustainable development.
“I deeply appreciate all those who participated in the electoral process, especially the delegates, supporters, and well-wishers who stood firmly behind my aspiration. Your support, trust, and confidence mean a great deal to me,” he said.
Mulade also used the opportunity to call for greater unity among the three major ethnic nationalities in the constituency—the Ijaw, Itsekiri, and Urhobo—stressing that lasting development can only be achieved through peaceful coexistence, mutual respect, and collaboration.
He noted that the outcome of the primary election demonstrated the desire of the people for inclusive leadership, grassroots-driven representation, and renewed efforts to address the developmental challenges facing the constituency.
“I dedicate this victory to God Almighty and all the people of Warri Federal Constituency whom I seek to serve. This mandate is a call to greater responsibility, and I assure you that I will not let you down. Together, we shall build a constituency where every community has a voice and every citizen has a stake in our collective progress,” he stated.
The NDC flag bearer further urged party faithful and supporters to remain united and committed as preparations begin for the general election, emphasizing that sustained solidarity and a shared vision would be crucial to achieving success at the polls.
