Fostering Hopes Foundation (FHF) was delighted by the progress made by one of its physically challenged beneficiaries of the Foundation’s Family Support Business Grant Programme when they visited her in Oleh, Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State.
The team met Mrs. Rachel Chidinma Okoli and her family in high spirits and was encouraged by the progress she had made since receiving a grant of Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira (₦250,000) to start a small-scale poultry business.
Mrs. Okoli, a mother of two—a boy and a girl—was involved in an accident that affected her spinal cord and left her confined to her home.
Her story was brought to the attention of the Fostering Hopes Foundation, prompting the Foundation’s Executive Director, Nkechi Ukome, to offer her assistance through a business grant, the Foundation also provided a scholarship to support her son’s secondary education.
During the assessment visit, the Foundation team was pleased to learn that Mrs. Okoli had put the grant to good use and had met the expectations set for the business support.
Mrs. Okoli’s progress was a source of encouragement to the team, which had been supporting her for more than a year without having had the opportunity to meet her in person.
The visit was an emotional and memorable encounter for Mrs. Okoli, her family, and members of the Foundation.
For the beneficiary and her family, it was an opportunity to finally meet the people whose support had made a meaningful difference in their lives. For the Foundation team, it was a rewarding moment to witness first-hand the impact of its intervention and the determination of a beneficiary to rebuild her livelihood despite the challenges she has faced.
