A prominent environmental rights and development advocate, Chief (Comrade) Mulade Sheriff, has expressed his appreciation for the Executive Governor of Delta State, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, following the governor’s recent working visit to riverine communities in Delta State, including the oil-rich Kokodiagbene Community in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South-West Local Government Area.

Chief Mulade, who holds the title of Ibe-Serimowei of Gbaramatu Kingdom, lauded Governor Oborevwori for personally inspecting ongoing projects in the riverine communities as part of efforts to assess the quality of work carried out by his predecessor, Sen Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, the immediate past Governor of the State.

In his remarks, Chief Mulade expressed gratitude to Governor Oborevwori for instilling hope in the community by demonstrating a commitment to ensuring continuity in governance and the completion of projects, particularly in the riverine areas of the state.

However, Chief Mulade also took the opportunity to draw the attention of Governor Oborevwori to certain drawbacks associated with the concrete walkway projects in the riverine regions of the state.

He emphasized the need for a reevaluation and potential transformation of road projects in these areas to address specific challenges and maximize the impact of infrastructure development.

“This project constructed here in Kokodiagbene Community, and others can only be meaningful, useful as well as add economic value to the people and the state only when they are linked and connected to the neighbouring communities. That is when we can refer to them as roads; for now, they are just concrete walk-ways to enable us access each other, as estate.”

“I want to strongly appeal to our amiable Governor Rt Hon Sheriff F. O. Oborevwori to kindly link together the under-listed communities in the same island, namely Okerenkoko, Pepe-ama, Ogidadino, Edeba, Ekpemu, Kokodiagbene and Jones Creek Flow Station communities to transform the concrete walk-way to become a road, in order to add economic value to the people and the state.” when they are linked and connected to the neighbouring communities.

The peace ambassador, therefore, appealed to Governor Oborevwori to expedite the necessary action needed to transform the walk-ways to the status of befitting legacy projects by linking them to other communities as his administration MORE AGENDA Posterity project for riverine communities of the State.

The visit and Chief Mulade’s comments underscore the importance of sustainable and inclusive development initiatives in the riverine communities of Delta State, highlighting the ongoing efforts to enhance infrastructure, promote economic growth, and improve the quality of life for residents in these areas.

Governor Oborevwori’s engagement with local stakeholders and willingness to address feedback signal a proactive approach to governance and community development in the state.
