Delta state government has commissioned a pontoon donated by it to Iyede – Ame  community in Ndokwa East local government area.
Investigations revealed that the state government’s gesture was a s a result of the deplorable condition of the old pontoon that had been serving the communities for the past thirty three years.

The commissioning of the new pontoon by Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan, Governor of Delta state for use by the Iyede- Ame , the people who received with great joy described the development as a reconnect to other parts of the state.

Cannon shots rented the air to announce the arrival of the Governor for the commissioning exercise while children, youths and the elderly defied the rains to give the Governor a resounding reception.

The people disclosed that the sinking of the former pontoon which had served the communities for thirty three years had crippled socio-economic activities in the over fifteen communities of the area..

According to them the dwellers who are predominantly farmers faced grave risk crossing the Ase creek on canoe while taking produce to markets in towns and cities .

Dr. Uduaghan who was represented by Hon. Ben Igbakpa,Commissioner for Transport said that enhancing the living standard of Deltans was the reason of being in government, he assured that the administration would continue to embark on projects and programmes that would promote the living standard of the people.
The governor promised to provide more basic amenities to the Iyede – Ame communities even as he charged the people to maintain the peace at all times.

Enumerating the various landmark achievements in the health, education and other sectors of the economy, the Governor gave assurance that a new dawn would emerge in the area before the end of his administration.

The Governor stated that his government was moved to donating the new pontoon as a result of the looming danger in crossing the Ase creeks by canoe.

Dr Uduaghan congratulated the people and charged them to maintain their support for good governance.
