By Francis Sadhere, Warri
A renowned peace and development advocate from Delta State, Comrade Mulade Sheriff, has picked up the Expression of Interest Form of the Nigeria Democratic Congress to contest for the Warri Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Mulade, who is widely known as an environmental rights activist and development advocate in the Niger Delta region, expressed confidence in securing victory in the February 2027 polls to be conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
Speaking shortly after obtaining the form, the activist said he was delighted to have taken the step, dedicating the achievement to God Almighty and humanity.
“I am very happy today for making it possible and I dedicate the form to God Almighty and humanity,” he stated.
The Ibe-Sorimowei of the ancient oil-rich Gbaramatu Kingdom also appreciated the national leadership of the Nigeria Democratic Congress for giving him the opportunity to aspire to represent the people of Warri Federal Constituency.
Mulade particularly commended former Henry Seriake Dickson for his support and encouragement, describing the opportunity as a call to service for the people of the constituency.
According to him, his aspiration is driven by the desire to promote peace, unity, development and inclusive representation among the three major ethnic nationalities in the constituency — Itsekiri, Ijaw and Urhobo.
“I am the right man for the job at the moment. I represent peace, unity, development and inclusive people representation devoid of ethnic sentiment and segregation,” he declared.
The peace advocate further pledged to uphold and promote peaceful coexistence, development and progress among the various ethnic groups in the constituency.
He assured that, if elected, he would work closely with traditional rulers, stakeholders and political leaders across the constituency to ensure sustainable peace capable of attracting meaningful development to Warri and its environs.
Mulade noted that inclusive advocacy, constructive engagement and dialogue would remain key strategies in his approach to governance and representation.
He described Warri as the commercial nerve centre of Delta State and stressed the need for collaborative efforts to restore its economic and social prosperity.
