We will resist PDP in 2015 – Ogbuagu
By Francis Sadhere
Former Delta State Education Commissioner, and Chieftain of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Dr. (Mrs.) Veronica Ogbuagu, has vowed that APC would resist the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) antiques in the 2015 election.
Dr. Ogbuag u stated this, yesterday, at a meeting of the APC party held at Chinkelly Schools, Ekpan Delta State.
While describing the last Delta Central Senatorial district bye-election as a show of federal might where uniform men, civil servants, councillorship aspirants, and chairmen were threatened to deliver PDP or face the consequences, Dr. Ogbuagu said that because of the threat PDP members in the state viewed the election as a do or die affair.
She also called on President Goodluck Jonathan and all his security apparatus to direct their strength and election rigging expertise to curtailing the excesses of Boko Haram and terrorist’s activities in Nigeria.
Dr. Ogbuagu, painted a picture of a hopelessness when she said that because of the attitude of PDP in the last senatorial election, most people were no longer interested in casting their votes, a situation she said could spell doom for any country.
She said Governor Uduaghan lied when he attributed their victory of the PDP to an act of God, adding that PDP never won the election.
She said; “Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan organized a thanksgiving service to thank God for the victory. He said it was by the power of God that the party regained its lost territory in the state, which is Delta Central Senatorial District. He lied because PDP never won the election.”
Speaking further, the former Delta State Education Commissioner, said 2015 will tell the real situation of things in the state as many PDP members were tired of their government but that they managed to stay in the party because they were hungry.
While congratulating APC members for their steadfastness and belief in the party, she urged them to keep the APC hope and dream alive, stressing that APC was the party of choice of many Nigerians come 2015 and beyond.
“Let me remind you that, APC as a newly registered party, without structure on ground in Delta State, participated in the by-election. PDP felt our impact for the first time. They did what they were good at- doing massive election rigging, intimidation and distributing money to the electorates. All the ends of the earth have seen the rottenness and corruption of PDP as a party,” she stated.
Dr. Ogbuagu also said that in future elections, APC members must not be cajoled by any ethnic group to produce the gubernatorial candidate, stressing that it must search for “men and women of integrity, men and women that are strong, rugged and are acceptable by Deltans to fly the APC flag.”
She said it was disturbing to hear people suggest that one good way to conduct future elections with PDP was to adopt a very serious and more violent methods such as the use of guns, and dynamites for ballot box snatching, insisting they were going to use nonviolent tactics to bring PDP down.
Dr. Ogbuagu also said; “They must also have the funds to match PDP in the 2015 elections. As for the magics that we see and experience during the elections, we will prepare adequately to give them what they want in return.”
Other APC members at the meeting recounted their ordeals in the hands of the PDP at the just concluded Delta Central Senatorial district election.
