As Bayelsans look forward towards celebrating Governor Dickson Seriake’s two years in office, which is around the corner, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Non-Indigene Affairs, Hon. Anayo Edwin, has heartedly expressed satisfaction that there is need to celebrate the 24 months of the governor in office.

Hon. Anayo made this known while chatting with newsmen at the NUJ premises in Yenagoa.

The SA pointed out the massive road construction and renovation projects which have been completed and ongoing in the state, that Gov. Dickson has come to deliver.

His words: “Dickson’s two years are wonderful two years, that is the way I normally put it. You can see what the man has done under 24 months, the education sector, infrastructure and health. He has touched all the various sectors.”

“Is it better to have a governor that shares the money without developing the state? To me, it is better to develop the state than share money,” he added.

Hon. Anayo Edwin also stated that Bayelsans will witness the Governor commission some of the projects on the 14th of February 2014.

“Dickson has done well and I want both Bayelsans and non-indigenes to give him a full support. If somebody has done well, you appreciate him for him to do more,” he state.

Speaking concerning his office and some of their achievements, Hon. Anayo revealed that they have done a lot of things which the non-indigenes will beat at their chests and say, at a time, they had an SA that performed well.

He stated that when they newly came on board, they met the non-indigenes scattered everywhere with no group to identify with, that that was one of the challenges they had and they had to come up with a body known as the Supreme Council for Non-indigenes in Bayelsa State, adding that that was one of their greatest achievements.

He also said that in their bid to serve the people better, they organized an election last year to elect new executives that will help them reach out to the people more effectively.

Hon. Anayo also disclosed that they have maintained a cordial relationship with the executives of the Supreme Council.

“We are working towards the unity of non-indigenes and that election is one of the symbols towards achieving such goal. We have a cordial relationship with the non-indigenes and the newly elected executive members. Without them, we cannot exist, and without us at the
government circle, they cannot exist,” he said.

Calling for support for President Goodluck Jonathan in the 2015 presidential election, Hon. Anayo gave assurance that they would continue go to their various states to preach the good tidings of President Jonathan and also tell them of how Bayelsans accommodated them without giving them problems, noting that that strategy is already working out gradually.

Also, in his part, the President – General of the Supreme Council for Non-Indigenes in Bayelsa State. Mr. Sunny Anthony Chukwuezi, noted that the Supreme Council was setup to coordinate the affairs of non-indigenes in the state, to ensure that all non-indigenes in the state speak with one voice in issues that concern them collectively.

He added that there has been a cordial relationship between Bayelsans and non-indigenes.

“Bayelsans are very hospitable, there is no where I go in Bayelsa that you will not see people come to embrace me. That shows the level of acceptance of the Ijaw man,” he said.
