Petroleum Training Institute (PTI), Effurun, Delta State recently takes delivery of a multi million naira worth of Mobile Propeller Repair Workshop from WARTSILA Marine and Power Services, Nigeria to help enhance the competent technical and technology manpower of students it churns out into the oil, gas as well as marine and energy industries.

Handing over the Workshop at P. T. I”s Skills Development Academy(SDA) Site in Osubi, Mr. Wale Yusuf, Managing Director, Wartsila Marine and Power Services, Nigeria said that WARTSILA is happy to partner with the Institute.

Mr. Yusuf, a trained engineer who was accompanied by Mr. Chima Orji a top official of the company disclosed that WARTSILA is recognized globally, adding that it has branches beyond the shores of Nigeria.

Accordiibg to Mr. Wale, “we are focused to do business with the Institute just as we have over twenty thousand workers in forty countries across the globe.”

On the company’s desire to partner the Institute, Mr. Yusuf said, “we are elated to be associated with the Institute. We are open for more collaboration. I can assure you that all the facilities in the container have never been used because they are brand new.”

Mr. Yusuf added, “this donation is a seed sown by us in P. T. I. to grow into a fruitful result in future and we hope to make good use of our future partnership for the overall benefit of both parties.”

Also speaking, Mr. Chima Orji, revealed that in Nigeria, WARTSILA has equipped six biggest vessels in the country, stressing that they are all less than six years old.

Earlier, Dr. Henry A Adimula, Principal and Chief Executive, Petroleum Training Institute (PTI), Effurun said that PTI, the leading oil and gas technological institution was set up by enactment of Act No. 37 of 1972 and subsequently amended.

Dr. Adimula disclosed that the Institute will partner Wartsila Nigeria with a view to enhance as well as harness potentials to expand the Institute’s horizon in the marine and energy industry.

According to Dr. Adimula, “this presentation is very important and strategic to the partnership and collaboration between the Institute and WARTSILA Nigeria with the view of creating an enabling environment from which we continue to harness our potentials and expand our horizon in the marine and energy industry.”

Dr. Adimula added, “it is my hope that through this partnership, the Institute’s aspirations with the proposed new School of Diving to be opened here at the Skills Development Academy will strengthen our collaboration with Wartsila.”

Dr. Adimula expressed his appreciation and that of management and Students to Wartsila Nigeria for the kind gesture.
