Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area, Dr Michael Tidi, has congratulated the people of Warri Council, especially the Christian folk, as they celebrate this year’s Christmas to commemorate the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Tidi in a statement by his Special Assistant on Media, Mr Francis Sadhere, rejoiced with the Christian community in the spirit of the yuletide and charged them not to confine the spirit of Christmas to a single day.

The Warri South Council boss, called on all Christians and residents in Warri South Council, to reflect on the virtues and teachings of Jesus Christ in their lives and activities so that the council and indeed Delta State would be a better place for all of us.

He congratulated all Christians for witnessing yet another Christmas season, advising all to use the festive period for sober reflections and total spiritual renewals and devotion towards living in peace and harmony with adherents of other religions.

Tidi added that his administration remained dedicated to pursuing more people-oriented policies and programmes, which have direct bearing on the lives of the people.

“May the peace and joy that Christmas brings fill your hearts not only during this holiday but also throughout the coming year.

“Remember, the spirit of Christmas is not confined to a single day but can be shared and embraced every day through acts of kindness, forgiveness, and understanding.

“The birth of Jesus Christ being celebrated at Christmas, should be used to promote peace, love, understanding and unity, including the display of the spirit of tolerance in the accomplishment of our vision of building a better council.

“I wish to admonish all Christians to emulate Jesus Christ in words and deeds, imbibe the core lessons of freedom, love, tolerance, sacrifice, generosity and peaceful co-existence, which Christ stood for,” Tidi stated.
