The people of Utagba-Uno in Ndokwa West Local Government Area of Delta State have commended Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan for his developmental projects executed by DESOPADEC in the community.

The commendation was made during an inspection tour of projects in the area by the State Commissioner, Special Duties, DESOPADEC, Timi Tonye.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner, Special Duties has set up a public complaint desk at his office at the Governor’s office annex in Warri.

The four DESOPADEC projects in Utagba-Uno include the renovation of 3 blocks of classrooms at the Ndueze/Ebologwu Secondary School, solar powered street lights in the community, solar powered water project and a modern health centre.

When the Commissioner, arrived the community with his team for and inspection of the projects, the poeple were happy to receive him.

At the primary school, the teachers and students expressed delight at the renovation of the school buildings.

At the new health centre built for the community, the people commended DESOPADEC for the project, but expressed worry that over three years after the project was completed, it has not been commissioned for use.

Benedicta Osike, a nurse at the old health centre, said they are eager to move into the new building.

Commenting on the projects, the commissioner commended the contractors who handled the projects for a job well done.

He however, said the problem with the solare panel of the water project will have to be looked into, while efforts will be made to commission the new health centre for use since it is already completed.

Also, the State Commissioner, Special Duties revealed that the state government is to investigate the abandonment of two road projects in Oloa, Abala-Obodo and Abala-Uno in Ossisa area of Ndokwa East awarded by DESOPADEC and recorded to have been completed.

Lamenting the development, Mr. Tonye said it was very embarrassing that some contractors are frustrating the good intention of Governor Uduaghan.

He said the comprehensive report of the project assessment will be sent to the governor after the inspection and the erring contractors will be prosecuted.

The Commissioner was accompanied during the inspection by his technical assistant, Mr. Jude Ebikefe and a director in the Ministry, Mr. Itejere.
