Urhobo Groups Pay Solidarity Visits To UPU President General, As Onoge Assures Royal Fathers Responsible Leadership
By Our Correspondent
The new President-General of the Urhobo Progress Union (UPU), Chief Tuesday Onoge has been busy receiving various Urhobo groups as the leader of his people world-wide. One of such group is the Youth arm of the UPU known as the “Ighele R’ Urhobo” under the leadership of Engr. Okoro Awerosuoghene.
The UPU Youth President told Chief Onoge that the entire Urhobo Nation has been beclouded with visionless leadership and politics of confusion, deceit and self centeredness, adding that his adoption (Onoge) as the new President-General of the UPU brought hope and air of relief having been so battered with the “corrupt scheming” of the immediate past leadership of the union.
Awerosuoghene assured the PG of their total loyalty and support in ensuring that the collective aspirations and common destiny of the Urhobo Nation is jealously guarded towards the attainment of several socio-economic and political projects especially the actualization of the Uvwiamuge declaration to produce a credible governor of the Urhobo extraction during the forthcoming general elections.
The youth organ of the UPU disclosed that the adoption of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Delta State, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor was timely and meets the basic and essential ingredients contained in the Uviamuge declaration document which is to the effect that any of the two national parties that will give the Urhobo Nation a gubernatorial candidate will be automatically be supported and voted for en-mass by the people of Delta Central Senatorial District in particular and Urhobo people in general.
In his response, UPU President-General, Chief Onoge expressed deep appreciation for the solidarity visit and advised the youth to remain focused and resolute in their collective determination for the attainment of the Uvwiamuge declaration, saying that his newly constituted executive council is working strategically with various Urhobo groups and the royal fathers to restore the image of the Urhobo Nation that has been ridiculed as a result of the sharp practices and unholy alliance with the PDP and Labour Party by some executive members of the immediate past regime of the union calculated to deliver President Jonathan and Senator Okowa at the polls in the forthcoming elections, a plan he said had already failed.
He stated that Chief Joe Omene and a few others were suspended so as to bring sanity and integrity into the administration of the union’s affairs especially to end the shameful double dealing introduced into the Uvwiamuge Declaration project. He further asserted that even though the Urhobo Nation had consistently said openly through the former PG Joe Omene that we would not have anything to do with the PDP for failing to give us governorship candidate, he (Omene) went ahead to initiate political romance with President Jonathan and Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, a move which suggested that UPU had mended fences with the PDP to deliver President Jonathan and Ifeanyi Okowa, adding that Chief Great Ogboru was brought in to do the dirty job of depleting Urhobo votes to favour the ruling party.
Notable personalities and other groups who have paid solidarity visits to the new Urhobo Progress Union (UPU) leadership of Chief Tuesday Onoge includes; the APC Vice Presidential Candidate, Prof. Yemi Osibanjo (SAN), Uvwie Women Union with Dr (Mrs.) Veronica Ugbuagu as President, Coalition of Urhobo Youth with Comrade Agbanoko as President, Atamu Social Club of Lagos, with Chief Agagbo Johnson as President, Uhobo National Youth Council with comrade Oyeghe Monday as President, Urhobo Media Group with Prince Ekiugbo Daniel as leader, Girl Youth Initiative with Emakpor Edith as Leader and Third Phase Amnesty Group of Militants with Gen.
