Barely one week to the governorship and state assembly elections, a political group, United Mandate for Jonathan has thrown its weight behind the Delta state governorship candidate of the All Progressive Congress, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor.

The Jonathan group made this declaration Wednesday during a solidarity visit to the Olorogun O’tega Emerho Campaign Organisation in Warri.

Leader of the group, Adesioye Kolawole, who is also the National Publicity Secretary, said group with a numerical strength of ten thousand members spread across the 25 local government areas of Delta state are committed to mobilising en mass to vote O’Otega Emerhor on April 11 as governor of Delta state. According to him, “before now, our group was solely dedicated to delivering President Jonathan and has not adopted any government candidate. But now, it is time to move on and participate in politics of mainstream to rescue Delta state”.

Mr Kolawole further disclosed that “even as we have decided to adopt and mobilise support for O’tega Emerhor, we will not change the name of our group because for us, it remains historic”.

Receiving the Jonathan Mandate group on behalf of the O’tega for Governor Campaign Organisation, Prince Clement Okonjo, Director, Media and Political Communication, assured the group that with their adoption of Emerhor  and the support from many other groups across the state, Delta is already on the same path with the APC at the Federal level.

“Indeed, the purpose of your visit is most thoughtful and welcomed. We deeply appreciate your decision to adopt O’tega Emerhor as governor of Delta state from April 11, 2015. Your decision is a big leap towards towards ensuring that Delta state does not become an opposition state”.

Prince Okonjo stated further that “your group stood for behind a very good man. We will continue to respect President Jonathan. He saved this nation by his rare display of humility. I assure you that your group will be given due recognition in the scheme of things within APC “.

Other leaders of United Mandate for Jonathan that were present at the declaration include Unumadu Macaulay and Bola Akunji.
