…As Izezi organizes first constituency briefing, town Hall meeting

The people of Ughelli South Constituency, Delta State, have passed a vote of confidence on the state governor, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa and the member representing Ughelli South constituency and Majority Whip of the Delta State House of Assembly, Comrade Rueben Izezi, even as they promised to support them beyond 2019.

They passed the vote of confidence on the dou today during the first constituency briefing and town hall meeting organized by Comrade Rueben Izeze held  at the Unity Hall Council Secretariat, Otu-Jeremi, Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State.

The motion for the vote of confidence was moved by Dr. Isaac Chichah and was seconded by Emmanuel Ejenake.

Moving the motion, which was unanimously endorsed after it was seconded, Chichan said they decided to throw their weight behind Izeze because he was a worthy son who had performed credibly well as representative of Ughelli South Constituency in the House.

Briefing his constituent, Comrade Izeze commended governor Ifeany Okowa for piloting the affairs of the state towards the destination of prosperity despite the excruciating financial realities in the country, just as the people of Ughelli South also passed a vote of confidence on Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and Comrade Rueben Izezi.

He noted that governor Okowa has being able to meet up with the huge financial wage bill of the state without owing any outstanding salaries.

He said governor Okowa has also continued with inherited projects, initiated new ones, completed and commissioned projects in spite of the dire economic conditions in the country.

The Delta State House of Assembly Majority Whip added that governor Okowa has also created 18,000 direct and non-direct jobs within his first one year in office.

On the anti-kidnapping law, hon. Izezi said that collaborators will also be prosecuted and that all property used to habour criminals of kidnapping will be taken over by the government. He also added that those who hear about kidnappings and refused to inform the police will also be culpable.

He lamented that a lot of people were in prison on holding charges which puts people in prison without proper charges, adding that with the new ammended law, courts can no longer remand people in prison without appropriate charges. He also noted that with the ammended law, the police can no longer arrest people arbitrarily without proper investigation, adding all interrogation must be done under the close watch of a camera.

He said the road map will in the next few months help the government to address the issues of the constituency.

He lamented that electoral litigation against him have been draining him financially, appealing to those who have cases against him to withdrew their cases so as to enable them move the constituency forward.

He said somebody filed a petition against him before all the anti-graft agencies, alleging that he went to school while working for government without approval in 2014.

He used the opportunity to thank leaders in the constituency for their support and criticism over the period in review, promising to continue to strive to offer them robust legislation and effective representation.

Given his stewardship on his legislative activities since June 2015, Hon. Izezi disclosed that he decided to give the annual  account of his stewardship in furtherance of his electioneering promises to keep the constituent abreast of how well or poorly they have discharged the task assigned to them.

The Ughelli South S.M.A.R.T. roadmap tagged, proposed Ughelli South Strategic Development Plan for 2015-2019 as presented to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa by Comrade Rueben Izezi and made available to his constituent, was adopted by all the people of the constituency present.
