The late Miss Oneya was shot dead last Friday in Effurun by suspected armed robbers who accosted her after she had made cash withdrawal at a new generation bank.

Dr. Uduaghan said the killing of the 35 years old mother of four was particularly sad and tragic, coming at a time the peace and security architecture of his administration had helped in stemming the tide of armed robbery, kidnapping and other violent crimes.

Governor Uduaghan who paid a condolence visit to the home of  Oneya on Sunday promised to assist the police in ensuring that the killers were arrested and brought to book.

He warned criminal elements hiding in the state to turn new leaf or be prepared to face the consequence of their nefarious activities.

Dr. Uduaghan assured Deltans of his administration’s commitment to the protection of lives and property in the state.

In his response, General Oneya, who was also one time chairman of the Nigeria football Association, thanked the governor for identifying with him and his family in their moment of grief.

He also acknowledged that the Governor made frantic efforts to save the life of the deceased when she was shot, adding that the gesture was a demonstration of his deep concern for the safety of Deltans.
