Tidi rejoices as Okowa signs Bill to develop Warri, Uvwie
Chairman of Warri South Local Government, Dr. Michael Tidi has expressed delight, following the signing of Warri/Uvwie and Environs Development Agency Bill into law by Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, saying the move has further underscored the governor’s resolve to continuously give infrastructural face-lift to all parts of the state.
The Governor who spoke Thursday May 16 at Asaba, shortly after assenting to the Warri/Uvwie and Environs Development Agency bill and five other bills, observed that it was a collective responsibility for all Deltans to contribute towards building a virile state that will be the pride of all.
The Warri South Council Boss in a statement, noted that apart from what the urban renewal that Warri/Uvwie and Environs Development Agency will provide, the agency will equally improve aesthetics of the twin cities alongside the sprawling communities and create the template for the actualization of Warri – Effurun that truly represents the dream of founding fathers of Delta State.
Dr. Tidi enjoined people of Warri South Local Government Area to give the state government and the development agency, which will soon be set up, the needed cooperation, assuring that his administration will work in synergy with the Warri/Uvwie and Environs Development Agency in the determination to improve the socio-economic situation of Warri, expected to be achieved through the anticipated urban renewal.
“I am proud of His Excellency, Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Okowa for signing into law legislation that would bring about rapid development in the economic nerve Centre of the state.
“By this bold and courageous act, Governor Okowa and members of the Delta State House of Assembly have positively responded to the yearnings of wafarians, and I am quite convinced that history would be kind to the governor for rising up to this onerous challenge.
“I implore every governor in the South to find courage to emulate this great feat,” Dr. Tidi said.
While signing the bill into law, Dr. Okowa explained that the Warri/Uvwie and Environs Development Agency Law was initiated following the successes recorded with the Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency.
