Delta Cleric Gives FG Six Months Ultimatum To Revive Moribund Delta Sea Ports

The Federal Government has been give six months ultimatum to revive the moribund Delta Sea Ports.

This ultimatum was given by Bishop Ajokpaoghene Okijenu, General Overseer, Praise God Revival Ministry, Enerhen, Effurun, Delta State during a peaceful protest by his church at the entrance of the Nigeria Ports Authority(NPA),Warri, Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State.

The cleric was reacting to the on going #endbadgovernance protest by some individuals in the country.

He explained that the cost of food items have continued to soar above the budget of the common citizen and urged the government to review the prices food items.

Okijenu noted that President Bola Tinubu had promised during his electioneering campaign to revive the Delta Ports within three months of his emergence as President.

The Cleric said that one year down the lane, the President had failed to revive the Ports, thus subjecting the people to untold hardships.

According to him, more jobs will be created if the seaports are operational and by implications boost the revenue of the state and the federal governments.

The cleric also urged the federal government to address the moribund refineries and well as stick to the directives to make crude oil available for the Dangote Refinery to function optimally.

He also demanded for the downward review of the prices of petroleum products to between N200 and N300 to ensure it’s affordability by the common man.

Accordng to Bishop Okijenu, “President Tinubu should come and revive our seaports in the next six months otherwise Niger Delta will breakaway and control our resources.

“Tinubu should do the needful and reduce the prices of premium motor spirit also known as petrol, diesel and kerosene and make them readily available for the populace.

“We want the reversal of the fuel subsidy removal and ensure all the government refineries are operational while Dangote Refinery is supplied with adequate crude oil.”

The cleric urges the Delta State governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori to prevail on the President to urgently dredged the Warri River to enable the Port to function optimally.

On the hunger protest, the bishop admonished the youth to be law abiding and conduct theemselves peacefully while it lasts.

He also warned against attack on security agents as well as the destruction of private and government properties.
