Osubu Airport, Warri

Chairman of Warri South council area, Dr Michael Tidi on Thursday commended the Federal Government and the Delta State Governor, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, for the role they played in the reopening the Osubi Airport, Warri, one year after it was shutdown.

According to a statement by his Special Assistant on Media, Mr Francis Sadhere, the Warri South LG boss commended the Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, who announced the reopening of the airport via Twitter recently.

He also commended Governor Ifeanyi Okowa supporting the resumption process of the Osubi Airport with some logistics, particularly in the area of covid-19 protocols, even though the airport is not the property of the State.

The Osubi airport was closed in February 2020, following controversy involving aviation service providers and management of the airport, over alleged debt and mismanagement.

However, Hadi Sirika, minister of aviation, in a tweet recently, announced the reopening of the airport, noting that all procedures, including COVID-19 protocol will be strictly observed.
