Stakeholders in the Niger Delta region have been advised to pay attention to selfish acquisition of wealth and build sustainable infrastructures that would guarantee the future of the unborn generations.

Comrade Bebenimibo, stated this in Warri when the Niger Delta Youth Assembly, NDYA, presented him the award of “Niger Delta Youth Leader of Inestimable Value”.

Comrade Bebenimibo, Secretary of the Tompolo Foundation said, “It is known to the whole world that the Niger Delta has suffered unjustified degradation and stagnation for decades whereas the region’s wealth sustains the larger Nigerian nation.

“As we move into the age of positive development of the region, it is imperative to erect enduring projects that would safeguard the lives of Niger Delta generations unborn. All stakeholders must think less of immediate selfish gains and build for posterity,” he stated.

He said along this line, the flag off of the Federal Marine University and the Shipyard/Dockyard at Okerenkoko marks the beginning of genuine sustainable development of the region, adding that, “many may not understand the full value of both projects till about a decade from now when graduates of the university and products of the Shipyard/Dockyard begin to give back to the region.”

Highpoint of the event was the presentation of the award to Comrade Bebenimibo by John Umoh, Vice President of the NDYA who noted that the recipient was honoured for his widely acknowledged productive leadership in the region.
