Engr. Prof. Emmanuel Ogujor, Rector, Delta State Polytechnic, Otefe-Oghara, Delta State has commended Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, Governor of Delta State and the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) for the infrastructural development so far recorded at the institution.

Prof Ogujor, who said the polytechnic has recorded academic and infrastructural improvement since he assumed office, particularly expressed his appreciation to Senator Okowa for the attention given to the institution so far.

The Rector gave the commendation on yesterday when members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Warri Correspondents Chapel led by Comr. Okiemute Okpomor, chairman of the Chapel presented a letter of commendation to the institution for clinching first position in a competition recently conducted for Mass Communication students of various polytechnics on Industrial Attachment (I. T.)at the NUJ. Warri Correspondents Chapel Press Centre.

Prof. Ogujor stated that through the efforts of the state government, the polytechnic has built a 3000-seater capacity school auditorium with Internally Generated Revenue (IGR,) which he said, was presently the biggest among higher institutions in the state.

Joined by principal officers of the institution including the polytechnic Registrar, Mr. Lawrence Mudiaga Umukoro and Mr. Lucas Onorigho, Bursar, he said the Polytechnic currently ranked as the best polytechnic in the state and one of the best academically in Nigeria.

He noted that two of the institution’s graduates were among 110 former youth corpers who distinguished themselves during their National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) recently honoured by the Federal Government for their contributions to the development of the country during their service year.

The professor of Electrical/Electronics disclosed that the institution has also secured the approval of the National Agency for Foods and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) to run a water factory plant within the school premises.

Prof. Ogujor explained the polytechnic had completed the building and construction of the plant, saying that it will begin production of best quality table water for the school, students and its neigbouring host communities very soon.

The Rector who commended principal and management staff for their support for the vision of making Otefe-Oghara poly as the best in Nigeria, added that efforts were in top gear to create additional technologically based schools and departments for the institution.

According to him, the polytechnic has reached an advance stage in its quest to obtain a radio broadcasting training licence for the Department of Mass Communication to ensure that the school produce one of the best broadcasters in the Nigerian broadcasting industry.

He posited that the institution would continue to give Mass Communication and other departments the deserved attention in its effort to produce students who can practically and academically compete globally.

Prof Ogujor assured hidy visitors that the institution would continue to partner NUJ in its quest to build a world-class institution with strong academic character.

The Rector also commended former Governor James Onanefe Ibori, HRM Noble Eshemitan, Otefe 111, Ovie of Oghara Kingdom and the people of Otefe-Oghara for supporting the school management in his development efforts.

He thanked the Head of Mass Communication Department, Mr Ferdinand Okoro, Dean of School of Business Studies and students for making the school proud during their industrial attachment with the union.

Earlier in his remark, Comr. Okies, the Chairman, Warri Correspondents Chapel of NUJ commended Prof Ogujor-led management of Oghara Polytechnic for sustaining the academic excellence in the institution.

He also thanked him for the massive infrastructural development so far recorded under his reign and urged him to do his best to ensure the school emerged number one polytechnic in the country.

While thanking Governor Okowa for his continued support for the development of the school, he further appealled for more funding for the polytechnic to enable it meets its designed establishment goal of providing practically-driven quality education for students.

Comr. Okies called for a sustained working synergy with the Institution that would be beneficial to the Institution and the NUJ.
