SAPELE APC: DPO ISSUES 21 DAY ULTIMAUM TO MEMBERS TO SETTLE RIFT
The Divisional Police Officer of the Sapele Police Station, C.S.P. Mammam Rijau has given the All Progressive Congress (APC) party in the area a 21 day ultimatum to settle their rift and restore peace to the area.
The ultimatum was handed to the Executive officers of the party led by Chief Lucky Onisuru Esidje yesterday.
The Divisional Police Officer invited one Elvis Ayomanor, a former Chairmanship candidate of the party and other members to the station for questioning after receiving complaint from Chief Lucky Esidje and Cyril Ogodo that they were holding illegal meetings.
He advised Chief Esidje who is still laying claims to the Chairmanship seat of APC after a vote of no confidence was placed on him by the entire members of the party in a meeting held at Oleh Road Sapele, to urgently call a meeting within the stipulated time where he should harmonize the members or cease to parade himself as the Chairman.
Hon. Ayemanor Elvis who briefed journalists after their meeting with the Police said the DPO has ordered that in case the Esidje led Exco refused to call meetings, the interim Exco now put in place will assume full control of the party in the area.
He said the police who led their men to the venue of their meeting had to peacefully invite them to report to the police station when they sensed danger as they resisted arrest with the help of their huge supporters.
Hon. Elvis said members of APC in Sapele had concluded that they could no longer cope with the leadership of Chief Esidje who they alleged has been very weak.
He noted that the party needed a leader that can be able to win elections, a quality he said, Chief Esiji does not poses.
Hon. Elvis added that there are also cases of financial impropriety, nepotism, favouritism etc leveled against one of their leaders, Dr. Cyril Ogodo, stressing that this has given Esidje the leverage to act and do the biddings of his sponsors to the detriments of the members.
Meanwhile, the party has inaugurated interim members to run the the affairs of the party affairs, alleging that Esidje and his group were no longer active to carry members along.
Those sworn-in are Mr. Robinson Ukavwe (Chairman), Rev.
