Speaking yesterday during an interview, the royal father said the Benin Elders would soon meet with the governor to suggest to him the aspirants they believe would be more suitable to succeed him, expressing their desire to ensure that the developmental projects of the governor is sustained after his exit.

The Enogie said: “the Edo people and elders, I must tell you, feel sad that Oshiomhole’s tenure is about to end, they wish they could continue with Oshiomhole. As I have always said publicly, there has never been a governor in Edo state, Bendel state and Midwest state who has performed as well as Oshiomhole.

“This is why we are all quite sad that this glorious moment is coming
to an end. Like they said, whatever has a beginning must have an end. Now we don’t know what those that want to succeed him have in stock. We cannot really tell who will be the most appropriate person, there are many things to consider. We believe very well that there are very many people in Edo state who can govern the state as much as Oshiomhole, perhaps even do better than he is doing, so we are all trying to help search for a good Edo man who will succeed him, who will do what he is doing or perhaps do better than him.”

He added: “Benin Leaders of Thought for instance, we just concluded an exercise, we decided to try all we can to look at the many people who are interested in this position to see who we think will probably be the most suitable.

“We just concluded that exercise, we have a report which we will make public very soon. We want to first give it to the governor and after that we will show it to the people at large. Things are being done in that regards.
