The Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa has urged graduates of the Delta State University, Abraka to pursue excellence everywhere they go, just as he promised to establish twenty graduates of Agriculture in entrepreneurship in tandem with his SMART agenda.

The Governor made the call during the weekend at the 25th anniversary of the institution and 11th convocation ceremony.

Okowa also promised to continue to support the institution to achieve excellence, just he as offered automatic employment to Delta State University Abraka Best Graduating Students Joshua A. Erubami who graduated with the CGPA of 4:85 from Mass Communication Department as Graduate Assistant at Delta State University.

The Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Victor Peretomode, in his speech thanked the Governor for supporting the institution and calls on alumni of the school to contribute in infrastructural development, noting that, the University has recorded high academic and infrastructural development since 2016.

He added that the number of the University has recorded 27 completed projects including academics programmes.

Prof. Victor Peretomode said that the University graduates 8491 students in all the degrees being offered in the institution, just as he commended the Isoko Development Union, IDU for standing by the school to attain accreditation in Engineering and law faculties as well as the other host communities for ensuring that the University enjoy peaceful atmosphere of learning.

He also thanks the governing Council and staff of the school for helping to achieve his developmental dreams.

Highpoint of the ceremony was the conferment of Doctor of Philosophy, Honoris Clausa on HRM, Ovie R.L. Ogbon, Ogoni-Oghoro I, OON, the Ohworode of Olomu kingdom, HRM, Obi, Prof Chike Edozien, the Asagba of Asaba and Prof. Bruce Onobrakpeya.

The centenarian Olomu king, shortly after the conferment of the award established a life time endowment fund of N5milliion Naira for the best graduating students in Urhobo language and Education.

The ecstatic Ohworode and Prof Bruce Onobrakpeya thanked the University for considering them worthy of the award and promised to continue to support the University to achieve it dreams as citadel of learning.

Meanwhile His Royal Majesty Lucky Ochuko Ararile (rtd), Avwaeke I, the Ovie of Umiagwa-Abraka in his magnanimity hosted the Ohworode of Olomu and all other traditional rulers at his palace.
