The Private Sector Participants (PSP) in waste disposal in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta state are set to embark on “Smart Green Environment” aimed at turning all illegal waste dump sites in the area into gardens.

The Chairman of the Private Sector Participants in Uvwie Council Area, Mr. Lucky Adjekuko who revealed this to our correspondent in an interview  said that the programme would cost the PSP over Ten Million Naira to complete.

Mr Adjekuko also said that by the end of December this year, the State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, is going to commission the first phase of the programme, calling on the general public to give them the needed support and encouragement to achieve their dream.

He said the project which will turn all  illegal waste dump sites in Uvwie Council Area into beautiful gardens, is also aimed at making the environment green and safe for investors and indigenes in the Council Area.

He said, “After working in the waste department for so long, we decided to come up with a programme called Smart Green Environment. This programme is going to cost us about Ten Million Naira to kick off. What we want to do is that we want to turn all illegal dump sites in Uvwie Local Government Area into gardens.

He added that; “We have the equipment and we believe that we are going to achieve this big project. I am appealing to the people of Uvwie Council Area to cooperate with us and help us achieve this laudable project. All we want them to do for us is for them not to dump waste indiscriminately”.

“We want to make the whole place look green and beautiful so that when people come to Uvwie they will see how beautiful the place is. Please, I still want to appeal to the people of Uvwie to patronize the PSP so that we would be able to achieve this Green Environment Project.”

Continuing he said, “Soon, we are going to call on Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to come and commission this Smart Green Environment project. We have already started clearing some dump sites in the area and by December we are going to complete them.

“We are starting this Green Environment at the fly over bridge close to the Warri Refinery. We are also moving to the Effurun Roundabout too. We will start planting flowers in all these places very soon. We want to turn all these places into beautiful gardens where people will come and relax.”
