BY PHILIP EKE, YENAGOAThe new Police Wives Association [POWA] Chairperson Bayelsa state, Mrs. Janet Amba, wife of the Commissioner of Police Bayelsa state, Mr. Asuquo Amba, who resumed office recently has already created niche for herself, as crime rate has been drastically reduced  due to it operational strategy in fighting crime.

The POWA Chairperson who has strong burning desire, which is to change lives and make a lasting impact and legacy. This desire and passion propelled her to tour police divisions to see things for herself, especially, re-activating the activities of POWA in Bayelsa State.

Mrs. Amba with the newly inaugurated Bayelsa POWA members, during her tour called for more proactive approach to revamping the union activities, while highlighting the benefits of belonging to POWA, she further reiterated the mission and vision of POWA, stressing that the tour was to acquaint and have round table discussion with POWA members which basically on development.Earlier, the POWA Chairperson visited several personalities, notably, a courtesy call on the wife of the Executive Governor of Bayelsa State Dr. (Mrs.) Rachael Dickson in Government House where several collaborative issues were deliberated, more so, POWA visited the Chief
Judge of Bayelsa State Hon. Justice Kate Abiri, Commissioner of Local Government and Community Development, Hon. (Mrs.) Agatha Goma, among others in solidifying partnership.

In her initial tour of Divisions, the first area visited was “A” division in a large crowd of police officers and men,  on arrival, the wife of the  DPO Mrs. Roseline Modupe Asufi, also at Ekeki Division ably led by Mrs. Berezi who is also a serving woman DSP of  police, and at Akenfa, the wife of the DPO Mrs. Juliet Odual, in their separate remarks in their various divisions thanked the wife of the CP for the historic visit, stressing that Mrs. Amba has broken the Jinx, the first POWA chairperson to tour Police Divisions in Bayelsa State in encouraging POWA women and more so strengthening serving police officers and men of the Bayelsa State Police Command.

While pledging the full cooperation to work with the new inaugurated Ex-co in which they all belong, while describing her as a virtues woman. The issue of herdsmen invasion at Akenfa, destroying farmlands and also threatening of the inhabitants by the roving herdsmen, in response, CP’s wife noted emphatically that she would appeal to CP for appropriate measure to avoid the breakdown of law and order.

Also in her visit to Azikoro, Igbogene Divisions, the story line was a great jubilation, while appreciating the POWA Chairperson and her
august entourage. At Azikoro the DPO, SP Fidelis Odunna, who is the focal person of POWA in Bayelsa State, the Wife, Barr. (Mrs.) Tina
Odunna, who is equally the State POWA Secretary, while heralding their excitement, welcome Mrs. Amba and thanked the Cp for his resolute and pragmatic posture in crime fighting.

The DPO of Igbogene CSP Azuibeke Peter, whose wife was unavoidable absent in the great event noted that the Igbogene division is the
newest division in Bayelsa State, created not long ago, while using the medium to thank the CP and his management team for the great
effort describing the CP as a rare gem, administrator per-excellence, also welcome POWA chairperson to the great event with her entourage expressed heart-felt appreciation, stressing that the visit have made history.

At 30 PMF Akenpai the Mopol commander, Sp Mohamed Ciroma and his officers and men gave enthusiastic and sensational welcome to POWA chairperson and entourage, highlighting from his address noted emphatically “No POWA No Police” stressing that POWA is a veritable organ of the Nigeria police, while tasking officers to register their wives. In adding color to entertain POWA chairperson and entourage, Mopol defensive warfare was performed to thrilled the audience which was very shocking and very elusive.

The POWA chairperson, Mrs. Amba who was so hilarious, full of happiness seeing a great crowd of officers and men, POWA women youths
representatives, PCRC Members, the Eminent Persons Forum thanked them for their arousing welcome, the visit which was more so great fanfare was a rallying point of POWA in Bayelsa State.

Mrs. Amba further highlighted that POWA is not an organization for gossiping, its for the overall development of members, she equally appealed to members and those not registered to avail themselves “we must support our husbands for credible policing”.

Mrs. Amba revealed that entrepreneurship and skill acquisition is a major contributing factor to economic growth and development, however, the entrepreneur and skill acquisition and leadership tend to be relatively lacking in POWA members, else there is ultimate need to include the habit of skill and entrepreneurial along side in managing the home “we should not be waiting for our husbands to do everything for us, we should appreciate and compliment our husbands”. “I love the police not because my husband is a Police Officer” I have the passion and the zeal, while tasking officers and men to appreciate God and train their children with the fear of God. Also thanking the Inspector General of Police and His Wife for their various reformations in Nigerian police force.

Mrs. Amba equally asserted that tourism ministry in Bayelsa state have pledged to train POWA members on skill acquisition, noting that over hundred women would be trained free of charge, while urging POWA members to register in the programme to better their lives.
In addendum, Mrs. Amba thanked all the police officers and men for the full support to CP in making his job easier and having achieved
tremendously in Bayelsa State.

“Without your corporations it wouldn’t be so peaceful and memorable” stressing that they should maintain the tempo. Appealing to POWA
members to always make a point of duty to attend POWA meetings. there is a new dawn of POWA” so Mrs. Amba highlighted, urging officers to make retirement plans to hedge the Imbroglio when it is due for.
